Could Your Bones Be To Blame for Your Hearing Loss?

Posted on May 05, 2015

A study featured in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism has unveiled a possible correlation between osteoporosis and hearing loss. Researchers in Taiwan have found that the onset of osteoporosis and abrupt hearing loss often occur at the same time. Half of those who suddenly experience hearing loss as a result of osteoporosis will regain their hearing, while the other half are not so lucky.According to the U.S. National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, over 40 million Americans have or are at risk for osteoporosis; which means that those same 40 million Americans also are at risk for hearing loss.
